As part of Science Week Ireland 2015, beekeeper Eamon Magee will present an interactive talk on urban beekeeping to anyone who is interested in this fast-growing past time

Across Ireland, people living in towns and cities are discovering the joys of beekeeping. It is a great way for people to connect to the natural world as well as helping to support an ailing bee population. It also provides you with delicious local honey!

In this special Science Week Ireland event for grownups, The Ark and WillFredd Theatre are delighted to welcome Eamon Magee (President of the Federation of Irish Beekeeper’s Association) to speak about Irish Urban Beekeeping. Known across Ireland for his passion and experience in keeping bees, Eamon will present an interactive talk to anyone who is interested in this fast-growing Irish past-time.

With over 50 years’ experience of keeping bees, Eamon currently has three apiaries at Mount Anville Dublin 14, Kilmaccannogue and Laragh Co Wicklow. He regularly speaks publicly about bees and some of his recent public events have been Radio Chat Forum at Bloom, Lecture at Botanical Gardens “Bees – Pollination and Honey” and Opening talk National Honey Show UK.
